Artful Harper Studios on Substack
After enjoying other creatives’ updates on Substack, I’m moving my newsletter here, too!
Hello friend,
Please enjoy these updates of my creative practice:
ACEOs
ACEOs (Art cards, editions, and originals) are the size of a playing card (2.5” x 3.5”). Diving into ACEOs was to explore more art mediums with little pressure, and they’ve become a part of my artistic routine. Now, I have a serious marker addiction! With each card I make, I strengthen my abilities and it also has me creating in a whole new way.
Also, because they are small, affordable pieces, I’m not seeking perfection. There are pencil lines, bleed through, and other imperfections, and their not holding me back.

I was surprised to discover that eBay is a booming environment for ACEO artists and have started selling mine there. I’ve sold 32 of these little creations so far, and am excited to send more off into the world soon.
Check out the offerings in my eBay shop here.
Patreon
I’m excited to announce a BIG change to ✦ The Collector ✦ tier of my Mail Club on Patreon. In January, I moved away from digital art downloads as a reward and instead replacing it with an original ACEO in the mail along with the monthly art greeting card.
January’s card featured a digital painting of some snowy mountains, though I’ll admit at this point I’m sick of snow. There’s currently a blizzard happening outside my window in New Hampshire!
February’s card, below, showcases the many pay phones I’ve illustrated through ACEOs! I’ve also moved to writing personalized notes on my typewriter. Such a vintage fan girl.
As a refresher, here are the tiers to my Patreon:
✦ Tip Jar - $3/month: Exclusive Behind The Scenes (BTS) posts on Patreon
✦ Card Club - $5/month: 1 art greeting card (blank inside) + BTS on Patreon
✦ The Collector - $10/month: 1 original ACEO + 1 art greeting card (blank inside) + BTS on Patreon

New Work
Though working with the human form and bright colors is not new to me, the application and style of this piece were a refreshing direction. Click through the images here to see various stages of the process.
